Bridge of Forgiveness.

One of the most poignant stories of forgiveness involving a farmer can be found in the parable of the "Bridge of Forgiveness."

The Story

Two brothers had adjoining farms and had worked together in peace for many years, sharing tools and providing mutual support. However, a conflict arose, and over time, the rift between them grew. The brothers exchanged bitter words, followed by a prolonged period of hostile silence.

One day, a carpenter arrived at the older brother's farm, seeking work. The older brother, still harboring resentment, asked the carpenter to build a fence at least eight feet high along the edge of his farm to prevent his brother from causing any harm.

He directed the carpenter to use the lumber piled by his barn. The carpenter worked diligently, and each time the older brother checked on the progress, he saw the carpenter hard at work.

However, when the older brother returned a few days later, he was surprised to find that instead of a fence, the carpenter had built a bridge connecting the two farms. When the younger brother saw the bridge, he was overcome with remorse for his past actions. He approached his older brother, embraced him, and apologized.

The older brother, moved by the gesture, thanked the carpenter for his work. The carpenter, with a smile, said, "I think my work here is done. There are many more bridges to build." This act symbolized the power of forgiveness and the importance of building connections rather than barriers.

The Lesson

This story highlights that forgiveness is often the key to healing and reconciliation. By choosing to build a bridge instead of a fence, the older brother demonstrated a willingness to forgive and reconnect with his brother.

This act of forgiveness not only brought the brothers closer but also served as a reminder that our actions can either divide or unite us
