Impact of forgiveness

Christian Relief Fund (CRF) is a non-profit organization based in Amarillo, Texas, dedicated to providing holistic support to orphans and vulnerable children worldwide, helping them escape the cycle of poverty.

CRF's journey began with child sponsorship programs, including initiatives on Mt. Elgon where they provided cows and Bibles to widows, such as those from Madame Moona’s church. The milk from the cattle helped the widows support themselves, and the Bible program contributed to the church's growth.

One notable success is Alex Cheroben, a graduate of CRF’s child sponsorship program, who became the church’s minister. In response to the significant number of widows and orphans in the area, Alex and the church organized a grief and trauma seminar. During this seminar, two women, Rose and Willbroda, who were seated beside each other, were overcome with grief. Their stories were intertwined by a tragic event:

during a tribal war in 2013, Rose’s husband had killed Willbroda’s husband over a land dispute, and later, Rose’s husband was killed by the police. This had turned them into bitter enemies.

However, after being counseled and ministered to during the seminar, Rose and Willbroda chose to forgive each other and forge a new friendship, exemplifying the healing power of the gospel. This reconciliation was a direct result of the programs initiated by CRF, including the distribution of Bibles and the support provided to widows through cattle donations. This true-life story highlights the profound impact of forgiveness and the transformative work of CRF, from sponsoring children who become leaders to providing resources that lead to reconciliation and new beginnings.

It serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of forgiveness and the potential for healing even in the face of deep-seated hurts.
